It was a day of Girl Power as we celebrated the International Day of the Girl
The day aims to highlight and address the needs and challenges girls face, while promoting girls' empowerment and the fulfilment of their human rights.
And that provided members of the weekly Westbourne Girls’ After School Club -open to all pupils in years 9 to 11 - plenty to talk about!
“Westbourne is very proud to be Sheffield’s only co-educational independent school for pupils from the ages of three to 16 and we believe that a system where girls and boys grow up together, is better because they learn to communicate with each other in a more natural way,” said Mrs Loasby.
“At the same time, though, girls also need their own space to be with each other and discuss the things that interest them at many different levels, which is exactly what this After School Club is all about.
“They were all very keen to mark International Day of the Girl as they all have very strong and positive ideas of their place in the world as they develop and look to the future.”
