On Wednesday 28th September, 29 Music and Drama pupils enjoyed a trip to the West End as part of their GCSE studies.
First stop was the Queens Theatre Shaftesbury Avenue to take a look behind the scenes of the world's longest running musical, Les Miserables. This extensive backstage tour experience that will no doubt come in handy when they are asked to write about an aspect of a live performance, scenery, costumes, etc. in their exams.
From the Queens they then walked to the Apollo Victoria Theatre via Trafalgar square and Buckingham Palace, to catch the matinee performance of ‘Wicked’.
Defying Gravity from the show’ Wicked’ is a set work at GCSE and will have to be studied and analysed and possibly even played in their exam. Year 10 have even chosen this piece to play at out Gig at the Leadmill on 16th October.
